HPE has launched a new data services platform, available through HPE GreenLake, which will enable customers to purchase storage and software subscriptions.
Customers will now be able to access a suite of subscription-based cloud data services as well as HPE s cloud-native infrastructure portfolio called Alletra through a new Data Services Cloud Console, which uses the same technology that underpins Aruba Central.
The suite of cloud data services include HPE s Data Ops Manager, which it claims enables customers to manage their data infrastructure from anywhere and from any device.
The Data Services Cloud Console, cloud data services and HPE Alletra will be available to order globally direct from HPE or through channel partners from May 2021.

Dell Technologies is evolving itself once again with the $4 billion sale of its cloud business Boomi to private equity firms in a move to shift its focus to “high-priority” areas including changing its sales motion toward as-a-service.
The news of Dell selling Boomi comes a few weeks after Dell confirmed the spin-off later this year of its majority stake in VMware and 15 months since Dell sold its cybersecurity business RSA for over $2 billion to private equity firm STG Partners.

Although Dell Technologies World Digital Experience 2021 marks the company’s second year in a row that Dell’s flagship conference is virtual, it doesn’t mean big news won’t be unveiled during the two-day online event.
Thousands of customers, channel partners and industry leaders will be in attendance virtually to hear from the likes of Dell Technologies CEO Michael Dell and Vice Chairman Jeff Clarke to Bill Nye the Science Guy and film director star Robert Rodriguez.
Dell Technologies wants channel partners to refresh, upsell, cross-sell and seize on new front-end margin opportunities to keep PC and server sales moving at a brisk pace.
That was the major message in a Wednesday talk by Dell’s Gregg Ambulos, senior vice president of North America channel sales, and Cheryl Cook, senior vice president of global partner marketing, at the Best of Breed (BoB) Spring 2021 event.
Ambulos said Dell’s partners in North America played a “significant role” in the company’s record-setting 2020. In that year, Cook (pictured above) added, company’s results showed that the “world needs more technology, not less,” which is supported by the release of nine new products in nine weeks so far this year.

Hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) promises simpler, more flexible and potentially cheaper IT. By combining storage and compute resources – often tightly coupled with virtualisation – hyper-converged brings key resources into a single system.
By removing the need for external storage and networking, HCI should be more reliable and easier to manage. IT departments can either buy integrated HCI hardware nodes or, as is increasingly the case, opt for software-based products.
