April Cool: A green twist & tips on global warming | Gurgaon News

Gurgaon: Instead of celebrating April Fool, the residents of new sectors gave a green twist and celebrated the day as ‘April Cool’. The resident’s group called United Association of New Gurugram (UANG) is celebrating a month-long ‘April Cool’ to spread awareness about the increasing global warming. As many as 35 housing societies, including NBCC Heights, Regal Gardens, Sare Homes, Microtek Greenburg, Vatika K Block, G-21 and Supertech 77, have come forward to join the initiative. The residents have pledged to make the surrounding more cool by planting saplings at various places. Praveen Malik, vice-president of UANG said, “We are already facing global warming and the planet temperature is rising at a speed which is why we have launched this month-long initiative ‘April Cool’ to give more meaning to it. Jha New Delhi, Jan 24 (IANS): For the first time, the number of states affected by the outbreak of bird flu has reached double digits in India, although wild birds are worst affected by this disease. The poultry trade has not yet recovered from the outbreak. However, the demand for chicken at hotels and restaurants has seen an improvement over the previous week. Though, bird flu has been confirmed in poultry birds in nine states, but its impact is quite low. Experts point out that the new avian influenza virus is not dangerous to humans.
