Noida: Data collected by Apartment Owners’ Associations (AOAs) and Residents’ Welfare Associations (RWAs) in sectors 74-79 shows that these areas currently account for over 50% active Covid cases in the district.
Residents from 7x societies (sectors 74-79) have informed the administration that there are 332 cases in 26 highrise societies.
On Wednesday, Gautam Budh Nagar recorded 652 active cases and according to the data, these six sectors account for 50.9% of those. The latest data raises concerns over the actual number of Covid patients in Noida and according to sources, it is likely that there are over 3,000 active cases as of now.
There are around 40 highrise societies in 7x sectors with a population of about two lakh. These sectors have several marketplaces and other common facilities. NOIDA: After Lotus Boulevard was identified as a focus area for containment, several RWAs in Noida have been reporting Covid cases in their societies to the administration with requests for testing and surveillance. These include Prateek Wisteria (16 cases), Sector 50 (six cases) and Elite Homz (9 cases).
Concurrently, in a throwback to the pandemic’s first wave, RWAs in some areas have started shutting down common areas like pools, gyms and clubs to avoid gatherings.
The apartment owners’ association of Prateek Wisteria in Sector 77 is among those to have requested the administration to send health teams to the society for screening. Since there are no guidelines yet on steps to be taken by the RWAs, the society has decided to keep some of the facilities closed for now.
Noida: Street crimes are increasingly becoming a worry in the bustling 7x sectors, which have developed into one of the city’s prime residential locations because of the large number of housing societies there and proximity to metro’s Aqua Line.
Residents have reported several incidents of snatching, a concern that they are also now raising on social media. Multiple incidents of snatching, around eight, have been reported outside the gates of housing societies like Prateek Wisteria, Mahagun Moderne, Gardenia Gateway and Sethi Max Royal over the past few months. Four instances of mobile snatching have come in close succession, over the past month or so. These have also been captured on CCTV cameras installed outside the main gates of the societies.
