WALBRIDGE, Ohio A Lake Township police officer is being recognized nationally for his work helping others during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum named Ofc. Ron Craig, the department s Community Policing Officer, Officer of the Month, along with Deputy Royce James of the Volusia County Sheriff s Department in Florida.
The award is sponsored by the Police Unity Tour and is given to federal, state and local officers who distinguish themselves through exemplary law enforcement service and devotion to duty.

Jersey City Police Dept. pays tribute to fallen officers at 2021 Police Unity Tour kickoff

Over the course of a week, the 50 officers participating will ride from Jersey City to Washington, DC.
Despite the tour being shortened from four days to one due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Jersey City Police Cycling Team raised $100,000 for the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial and Museum. Last year’s tour was cancelled altogether.
“It is a tough environment to be a police officer. There’s a lot of questions that are valid questions on what policing looks like in today’s world, questions around transparency and accountability,” Mayor Steven Fulop said.
