Portland park to undergo insecticide treatment for invasive moth species

The city’s Parks and Recreation Department will be spraying the trees with an organic insecticide during the first part of next week. The park will be closed to guests during the treatment, which will begin before 8 a.m., and it will remain closed for four hours afterwards. The state has been battling the invasive moths, which can cause respiratory issues when they’re caterpillars. They also pose a threat to the trees they build their nests in.
