After AIUDF, another Congress ally BPF moves candidates out of Assam over poaching fears

Poachers cannot break Mahajot, says AIUDF | India News

GUWAHATI: Congress-led Mahajot allies have said horse-trading attempts would not succeed in impacting the outcome of the just-concluded assembly election. AIUDF candidate from Sonai, Karim Uddin Barbhuiya, on Monday made a sudden appearance on social media after he silently returned to Assam from Jaipur on Sunday. Barbhuiya’s return is significant not only from the AIUDF’s point of view but from the Mahajot perspective, as he is the coordinator of the grand alliance on behalf of Badruddin Ajmal’s party, a key ally of the Congress for the Assam election. Even though there are reports of Congress flying out 18 of the 19 AIUDF candidates to Jaipur to ‘keep them away from poachers’, Barbhuiya, after returning, said that their Mahajot is ‘unbreakable’ and even some BJP candidates are in touch with them. They may extend support to the Congress-led alliance for the formation of a non-BJP government in the state, he said.

Bodoland People s Front (BPF) Candidates Sent Outside Assam in view of Horse-trading

OUR CORRESPONDENT TANGLA: Horse-trading in Assam Poll 2021: In a bid to thwart any possibility of horse-trading, the BPF (Bodoland People s Front) has kept a section of its candidates in an undisclosed hotel outside the State. According to sources, as many as 10 BPF candidates contesting the polls in the four districts of BTR (Bodoland Territorial Region) have been sent outside the state. The candidates are accompanied by BTC executive members. Only Minister Pramila Rani Brahma, a six-time MLA from the Kokrajhar East constituency, and Rabiram Narzary are in Kokrajhar now. BPF president Hagrama Mohilary took the decision to shift party candidates to another State after a meeting with its candidates in Kokrajhar, amid fears of horse-trading by the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) before the announcement of results of the Assam Assembly elections on May 2, 2021.

Assam polls: Now, Bodoland People s Front shifts its candidates abroad- The New Indian Express

Express News Service GUWAHATI: Apprehending attempts of poaching by the ruling BJP, the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) has shifted 10 of its 11 candidates of the recently-concluded Assam elections overseas. This comes two days after the ten-party grand alliance of Opposition had flown out 20 candidates – 18 from the All India United Democratic Front and two from the Congress – to Rajasthan. The only BPF candidate to remain in Assam is Minister Pramila Rani Brahma. She confirmed the development surrounding her party, which is a component of the Opposition alliance. “Yes, they left yesterday (Saturday) but I have no idea which country exactly they are visiting. I could not contact them,” Brahma told this newspaper on Sunday.
