A traffic stop for a speeding motorist along I-84 led to the seizure of more than 12 pounds of cocaine and multiple charges for two women and a man from Waterbury, according to police.
According to a press release we received from the Connecticut State Police - Troop A - Southbury, the incident happened yesterday, Sunday, February 21, 2021, at around 2:30 in the afternoon. TFC Houle #956 was conducting Traffic Enforcement when he saw a speeding Honda Ridgeline vehicle approaching the Exit 16 area of I-84 Westbound in Middlebury where Houle pulled the vehicle over.
Police say that during the course of the traffic stop, the vehicle was searched after probable cause was developed and Trooper Houle found 5.66 kg (12.47

The results are in from the two-week Traffic Enforcement and Awareness campaign targeting distracted drivers in the area.
Saugeen Shores Police say the statistics from Operation Hands Free indicate a drop in the number of incidents involving drivers using hand held communication devices.
Officers attribute the drop in numbers to awareness and public knowledge that they were looking for violators.
Last years Campaign ended with officer laying a total of 7 charges.
This year just 4 drivers were handed distracted driving tickets.

SETAR: Four people, including a police inspector from Pengkalan Hulu, Perak were seriously injured in a two-car crash in Jalan Baru, near Baling, about 78 km from here, last night.
Baling district police chief, Supt Shamsudin Mamat said a Proton Waja with five onboard collided with a police car driven by the Pengkalan Hulu district police headquarters (IPD) Traffic Enforcement and Investigation chief in the incident at Simpang Empat Carok Nau at 9 pm.
‘’The officer, the Proton Waja driver, his wife and five-year-old son were seriously injured. The couple’s nine-year-old son and the brother of the Proton Waja’s driver, aged 11, were slightly hurt,’’ he said in a statement today.
