DMK president M.K. Stalin on Wednesday said bail should not be granted immediately for those who were arrested in connection with the Pollachi sexual assault case as many others were yet to be secured.
In a statement here he pointed out that Arulanantham who was arrested by the CBI along with two others Babu and Heron Balu was AIADMK’s student wing secretary of the Pollachi town.
“He is the shadow of AIADMK Pollachi town secretary Krishnakumar and was introduced to the party by Deputy Speaker Pollachi Jayaraman,” the DMK leader alleged.

Coimbatore: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested an All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) functionary and two of his friends in connection with a case of sexual harassment of women by a gang at Tamil Nadu’s Pollachi in 2019. The AIADMK has now expelled party’s Pollachi town Students Wing secretary K Arunanandam.
The trio have been remanded to 14-day judicial custody by the Mahila court in Coimbatore.
COIMBATORE: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested three more people, including an AIADMK student wing functionary, in connection with Pollachi sexual assault and extortion case.
The arrested trio have been identified as K Arulanantham, 34, of Vadugapalayam in Pollachi, T Heron Paul, 29, of Achipatti in Pollachi and P Babu alias Bike Babu, 27, of Vadugapalayam. Arulanantham is the Pollachi town secretary of AIADMK student wing. Following the arrest, he was removed from the party.
The accused were produced before a mahila court in Coimbatore. The court remanded them in judicial custody till January 20.
According to sources, the arrests were made following the statement of three rape survivors before a magistrate court a few weeks ago. “The survivors alleged that the arrested men along with N Sabarirajan alias Rishwanth abducted them in a car, sexually assaulted them and threatened to leak the footage,” the source said.
