WEATHER AND TIDES REPORT Rainy skies will continue to cloud over the region as the weather bureau predicts a 90 per cent chance of showers today. Winds southeasterly 20 to 30 km/h. Low tide was at 2.11am at 0.22m and high tide will be at 8.57am at 1.93m. The next low tide is scheduled for 3.26pm at 0.46m, while high tide will reach 1.30m at 8.55pm.

Subscriber only A picturesque afternoon on the beach almost turned into tragedy for Bernadette Millar when she was suddenly caught in a strong rip. The mother-of-one said she was only here today because of the people who saved her. I m still traumatised by the ordeal, there s no words that can explain how I felt or what happened, she said. Ms Millar was swimming at Coolum Beach Cove on Monday evening when trouble struck. She said the rip formed quickly and her partner s every attempt to save her was in vain. My partner was trying his hardest to help me he would have given his last breath doing so, she said.

CENTREVILLE, Va., Dec. 18, 2020 /PRNewswire/ Parsons Corporation (NYSE: PSN) announced today that NJ TRANSIT (NJT) has completed the final deployment of its Positive Train Control (PTC) system; an advanced, technological capability that increases the safety of rail transit and protects riders.
In partnership with NJT, Parsons developed and implemented a custom PTC solution that adheres to Federal Railroad Administration guidelines, while maximizing the region s existing rail infrastructure. This milestone is the first time NJ TRANSIT has implemented PTC.

Since 1966, Costa Mesa residents have celebrated the holidays by visiting Snoopy House a Christmas-themed homage to Charles Schulz’s comic strip “Peanuts” that stood for decades at a local residence before moving to the lawn outside City Hall in 2011.
Once there, the installation morphed into a civic event that featured free photos with Santa Claus, train rides and live performances and took on a life of its own as attendance expanded to around 15,000 visitors, according to Dane Bora, a public affairs manager for the city of Costa Mesa.
