Hello! Hi! How are you? Great to hear! How am I? A bit pissed off actually, and I want to have an open conversation about it.
If you’re not living online like myself, then you may have missed the news about comedian
Alex Williamson. You can read all about it here, here, here, and even here!
In summary, Williamson’s ex partner (singer and social media personality
Peach PRC), accused him of “abusive, manipulative, and predatory” behaviour. [Editor’s note: Williamson denied accusations of abusive or predatory behaviour, but that denial leaves a lot to be desired. He has since apologised.] This started a snowball effect, with people making allegations about his behaviour both on and offline. In the end, Williamson’s management dropped him, and both Sydney Comedy Festival and Perth Comedy Festival cancelled his shows. Chef’s kiss.
Alex “Shooter” Williamson being mentioned in the news.
The recent spate of coverage stems from some very serious abuse allegations that have been brought to light, but even prior to this, Williamson was still attracting attention for all the wrong reasons.
Here’s a timeline of some of the more prominent incidents and allegations involving Alex Williamson.
March 2020– Goulburn show brawl
The crowd appeared to love the spectacle, and even chanted “Shooter, Shooter, Shooter” (his username and nickname) while as security intervened.
Williamson later admitted that the audience member he confronted wasn’t even the person who had heckled that night.
Both the Sydney and Perth Comedy Festivals have withdrawn upcoming shows from
Alex Williamson from their respective programs, as the fallout from Williamson’s vile social media response to abuse allegations continues.
In a pair of short statements posted a earlier this afternoon, representatives for both the Sydney Comedy Festival and the Perth Comedy Festival confirmed that Williamson’s upcoming shows will be pulled from their schedules.
The 32-year-old, known to his audience as Shooter Williamson, was scheduled to perform as part of the Sydney Comedy Festival on May 14th and 15th.
