Berks County man sexually abused boy, gave him gifts as a cover-up: prosecutors

A Reading man sexually abused a boy for six years and gave him gifts to keep him telling anyone about what was happening, authorities said.
Jackie E. Reifsnyder, 59, is facing four counts of rape for abusing a boy from the ages of 10 to 16, according to a news release from the Berks County District Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors said the abuse happened while Reifsnyder was taking care of the boy at three different Berks County homes. Afterward, prosecutors said the 59-year-old gave the boy gifts to keep his acts a secret.
70-year-old man sexually abused teen, paid for nude images of sister: police

A Reading man is accused of sexually abusing a teenage boy, then paying the teen for nude pictures and videos of his 11-year-old stepsister, according to the Berks County District Attorney’s office.
According to a statement from the office, Jonathan K. Rai, 70, knew the boy and his sister because they were family friends.
The teen disclosed he was 14 when he was sexually assaulted at Rai’s Reading home, according to the DA’s office. The teen was able to describe the assault in detail and identified Rai by name.

Authorities identify man stabbed to death in Berks County

A Berks County man was stabbed to death Monday night in the home he shared with several adults and children, prosecutors said.
Terance Maurice Myers Sr., 35, was found dead in a second-floor bathroom on Hillside Road in Exeter Township, Reading, according to a news release from the Berks County District Attorney’s Office.
County authorities determined Myers died of a single stab wound to the left side of his chest. The Berks County Coroner’s Office ruled his death a homicide.
A man and woman called police around 10:45 p.m. to tell them there had been an accident, that Myers had a cut to his chest and was not breathing, according to prosecutors.
Investigators provided insight Wednesday in a court filing in the first suburban slaying in Berks County this week while the investigation continues into a second homicide, both from domestic violence incidents.Â
Jillian R. Blimline, 38, initially told police that she was decorating the Christmas tree Sunday night in the dining room of a split-level home in the first block of Maywood Avenue in South Heidelberg Township.
She heard a noise and in her peripheral vision saw Chad A. Macwilliam, 39, on the floor with a pair of scissors in his chest. She called 9-1-1, requesting medical attention for her fiance.
