Montgomery will offer 100 $50 gift cards each at four neighborhood COVID-19 vaccination clinics in an attempt to combat the declining vaccination numbers in Alabama.
The clinics will provide free vaccinations and will not require an appointment, insurance or identification.
“Our goal has always been to protect the lives and livelihoods of everyone in Montgomery,” Mayor Steven Reed said in a statement. “The COVID-19 vaccines are our best chance to do so. We are proud to work alongside partners like Walmart, Montgomery Housing Authority, Partners In Health, Nehemiah Center and Metropolitan United Methodist Church to bring these life-saving vaccines directly to our communities.”
Medical Advocacy and Outreach (MAO) will host a drive through health and wellness clinic on Rosa L. Parks Avenue this Friday. Representatives from Sykes, a call-based customer service group, will also be on hand to hire job candidates.
Those who pull up to Metropolitan United Methodist Church on April 16 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. can get a free health screening, blood pressure and glucose check and a quick HIV test either from their car or a take-home test kit.
Volunteers from participating health organizations such as the city’s 211 service, MACH, a homeless outreach group, and the Alabama Department of Public Health, among others, will be on hand to speak with people who want advice or information about services they offer.
