And they haven’t stopped.
“We were able to serve over 18,000 households and move over 70 tons of food during pandemic,” said Pastor Richard Williams.
Pastor Williams has partnered with other volunteers and agencies to make it happen.
“He is a phenomenal leader and a heart for others and I love, love, love his work,” said Regina Coley, who nominated Williams.
When people talk about Richard Williams, their thoughts turn to the characteristics that have made the young Montgomery pastor stand out in his short time in the city.
For Yeteva Johnson, it was how he treated the staff at the Capitol City Grille when she first met him.
“He spoke to them with the same respect as he would the mayor,” she recalled.
For Father Manuel Williams of Resurrection Catholic, it was when he saw Richard Williams operate a forklift, moving pallets of food set to be distributed to families amid the pandemic.
As a pastor for decades himself, Manuel Williams understands the variety of tasks it takes to run a congregation, but Richard Williams’ dedication and innovation has continually impressed him.
