RALEIGH, NC â The Vance Cougars knocked out Rolesville 35-14 to win their second straight State Championship. Austin Grier threw for 200 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Cougars and grab the gameâs Most Valuable Player honors.
Grier sealed his MVP award with a pair of third quarter touchdown passes, both to Asuani Allen to push the Vance lead out to 35-14 with 3:03 to go in the third quarter, before the Vance offense watched their crushing defense bring things home in the fourth.

Rolesville, N.C. Rolesville s Ethan Daniel picked off a pass in the second overtime period, setting the Rams up for a big win. Devin Versteegen kicked a 30-yard field goal in double overtime to beat Wake Forest 24-21, sending Rolesville to the 4AA state championship.
This marks the first time in school history Rolesville has played for a N.C. High School Athletic Association state championship in any sport.
In the regular season meeting between the two rivals, Rolesville beat the Cougars 36-3. It was the first time the Rams had beaten Wake Forest.

Rolesville, N.C. This week s upcoming Wake Forest at Rolesville game will determine the 2021 spring season s 4AA Eastern regional champion, but it could potentially determine even more in terms of future implications.
It s almost poetic, the two schools that used to be one facing off for an Eastern regional title at the highest classification.
Wake Forest did just fine after the split, going on one of the most dominant runs in modern N.C. high school football history with three consecutive state titles from 2016 to 2018.

Rolesville, N.C. Rolesville survived some early scares against Hoggard before going on to beat the Vikings 47-30 in the second round of the NCHSAA 4AA East playoffs.
Hoggard held early leads of 3-0, 10-3, 10-9, and 17-16 before Rolesville kicked things into a higher gear.
Right before halftime, Rolesville kicker Devin Versteegen gave the Rams the lead on a 33-yard field goal. On the ensuing Hoggard, possession, the Vikings fumbled. Soon after the turnover, Rolesville quarterback Byrum Brown found sophomore receiver Noah Rogers for a 37-yard shot up the left sideline.

The Rolesville Rams made quick work of the Holly Springs Golden Hawks at home on Friday night in the first round of the NCHSAA 4AA state football playoffs.
Wide receiver Cyrus Rogers was involved from the opening kick-off, which he took all the way to the Holly Springs 31-yard line.
From there, Rogers found the end zone as star quarterback Byrum Brown found him for a 21-yard touchdown pass.
On the ensuing Holly Springs drive, Damon Burton came up with a sack for Rolesville on third down which forced the Golden Hawks to punt.
