Red Shores racetrack places 45 horses in isolation after strangles tests
The Red Shores racetrack in Charlottetown has placed 45 horses in isolation after receiving a positive PCR test for the bacteria that causes strangles. Yet according to a release from Red Shores, out of the 199 horses tested on the grounds, not one was identified as having clinical signs of the respiratory condition.

A P.E.I. vet is recommending isolation and testing as keys to stopping the spread of strangles. Two P.E.I. horses tested positive last week, one at the Red Shores Racetrack in Charlottetown and another at the Shamrock Training Centre in Ontario.
