Five public high schools in the Lehigh Valley cracked the top 100 in a state ranking released last week.
The rankings come from U.S. News & World Report, which ranked more than 17,800 public high schools throughout the country. (Private entities like Catholic schools were excluded.)
The idea is to measure how well schools serve students from various social and economic backgrounds, based on six criteria, according to the publication.
Warren County’s highest-ranking high school in New Jersey was Warren Hills Regional High School (200).
Liberty’s principal gets well-deserved statewide honor | Turkeys & Trophies

Even though he first learned about it by surprise in a carefully crafted ceremony, Liberty High School Principal Harrison Bailey’s award for Pennsylvania’s secondary principal of the year is no fluke. The Bethlehem Area School District community organized the ceremony to honor Bailey on Thursday afternoon. The Pennsylvania Principals Association gives out the award annually. It’s as deserving of an award as they come. Bailey helped launch the Project Lead the Way curriculum, allowing students to explore engineering and biomedical sciences before college. He also integrated restorative justice practices into the school culture and undertook other initiatives that have given Liberty students the best chance possible to learn and succeed. We congratulate him.
Here is a guide to all the candidates running for city office, including mayor and city council, in Lehigh and Northampton counties in the May 18 primary election.

Liberty High School Principal Harrison Bailey had no idea what awaited him inside of his school’s gym Thursday afternoon.
When he walked through the doors, the Grenadier band broke out into song, the majorettes were dancing and his wife, three kids, mother and in-laws sat in a socially-distanced group in the gym.
The Bethlehem Area School District community gathered with Bailey’s loved ones at Liberty to surprise the school’s leader with the news that he’s the Pennsylvania Principals Association secondary principal of the year. Bailey took in the news as his colleagues, a student and local dignitaries shared all that he means to the Hurricane family.
