A Palmer Township manufacturer of picture frames and decorative molding has invested $1.5 million to power its plant with the energy of the sun.
The installation of the huge solar panel array at MCS Industries at 2280 Newlins Mill Road is nearly complete, according to a MCS Director of Engineering Dallas Kohler. He said it should be operational by May 14.
The roof-mounted solar power system will generate 1.1 megawatts of electricity per year, according to a news release. That will eliminate the emission of 828 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year, the equivalent pollution generated by 167 cars per year.

No computer? No smartphone? Come to this clinic for help signing up for a COVID vaccine
Updated Mar 08, 2021;
Many of the older residents most at risk for COVID-19 don’t have the technology to sign up for vaccines offered by the area’s two major health networks.
The Easton COVID Vaccine Equity Project will help folks who don’t have access to a computer or a smartphone, or those who just aren’t comfortable using either device.
The 73-year-old friend of one of the clinic organizers couldn’t figure out how to upload her Medicare card, for example.
“That was going to keep her from getting her vaccine appointment,” said organizer Margie DeRenzis.
