The installation of the huge solar panel array at MCS Industries at 2280 Newlins Mill Road is nearly complete, according to a MCS Director of Engineering Dallas Kohler. He said it should be operational by May 14. The roof-mounted solar power system will generate 1.1 megawatts of electricity per year, according to a news release. That will eliminate the emission of 828 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year, the equivalent pollution generated by 167 cars per year.
