Katie Collier is facing a daunting and what most people would label an impossible task, but she’s more than ready for the challenge in front of her. Collier has been named the new head coach for Soddy Daisy girls basketball, taking over for Kayla Burse, who had been in that position for the past two years. Collier is an energetic 24-year-old who has no high school coaching experience, but she’s been around basketball all her life and it didn’t take long for her to convince Soddy Daisy athletic director Jared Hensley and assistant principal Jennifer Williams that she was the right person to fill that position.

Johnson, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Scott City Lady Beaver softball team returned to the field for the first time in a week on Friday, as they made the trip to Stanton County to face the Trojans. They would come up with a pair of big wins, as they won the first game 21-2, and finished the day off with a 27-10 victory. In game one, Stanton County jumped out early 2-0 after an inning, only to see the Lady Beavers hang 12 runs in the second inning to lead 12-2. Scott City added four runs in the third and got five in the fourth to win 21-2 in four innings. Cheyenne Cramer gave up two runs, one earned, on three hits with seven strikeouts in four innings of work. Rhiley Stoppel had three hits and drove in seven runs. Two of her hits were home runs, including a grand slam. PJ Suppes drove in five runs and had three hits, as the Lady Beavers finished with 19 hits in the first game.
