Hyderabad: In what comes as a major help to patients who are getting treated at various hospitals in two Telugu states, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex of DRDO handed over oxygen to Andhra Pradesh state, Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams (TTD) Board and Secunderabad Cantonment to meet the scarcity of oxygen while treating Covid-19 patients.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has announced that it will arrange oxygen cylinders from its resources to meet the urgent requirement of oxygen supply at hospitals and medical institutions in various parts of the country.
100 oxygen cylinders were transported from DR APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex, Hyderabad to Secunderabad Cantonment and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) on Saturday. DRDO provided another 100 oxygen cylinders to the Andhra Pradesh Government.
These high-pressure seamless cylinders are of 46.7 litres water capacity each and can be pressurised up to 150 bars. These cylinders are certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards and are approved by PESA (Petroleum & Explosives Safety Organisation). Each of these cylinders can store 7,000 litres of oxygen.

They had spent a harrowing day trying to get Anuja’s severely ill sister Tanuja Vidyarthi into the emergency ward at the Jaipur Golden Hospital, a designated Covid-19 treatment centre in Rohini, 22 kilometres away. A schoolteacher from Karol Bagh, Tanuja, 53, had tested positive for Covid on April 16 and rushed to the hospital after her blood oxygen level plummeted to under 70.
