Residents at Morningside Ministries on Babcock Road could no longer visit in person with friends and family. No hugs, no sharing a cup of coffee. Muñoz watched as family members stood outside the building and spoke to their loved ones on cell phones, looking at each other through closed windows. The isolation was difficult but necessary to lessen the risk of the virus spreading to the 122 people living at the facility.

WOODBURY, CT - Gertrude Hardisty, of Woodbury, died Wednesday, January 13 surrounded by her family. She was the widow of Chester C. Hardisty. Gert was born in Waterbury, CT November 15, 1929, daughter of the late Henry and Katherine (Conley) Cassidy. She was a graduate of Staasburg High School in Staatsburg, NY. Subscribe She grew up in a tight-knit family whose lives were deeply affected by the depression, the tragic deaths of their father and two spouses just as brothers were called overseas to serve in World War II, leaving mother and daughters to share financial and child rearing chores. Luckily, Gert liked to work and she was a quick study.
