Prince George Free Press » RCMP offer tips for driving in treacherous conditions

Prince George RCMP are urging drivers to use caution – and snow tires – while making the transition to winter driving conditions. RCMP spokesman Const. Gary Godwin said police responded to 32 accidents in the city over the weekend, following heavy snowfalls which began Friday. In addition, over 50 vehicles were reported off the road which didn’t require police attendance. “It was a bit of a crazy weekend,” Godwin said. “The snow started Friday morning as people were making their way to work – and again on Monday as people were going to work. It’s the worst time to get snow.” Godwin said drivers need to adjust their behaviour behind the wheel and prepare their vehicles for winter conditions.

Elm Street residents Tim Graham and Pam Hodson were out Sunday morning with their bright yellow Pitch-In Canada garbage bag picking up litter along Patricia Boulevard on the bank overlooking downtown. The retirees go for walks regularly along that stretch of roadway in their neighbourhood and just wanted to do their part to make those walks more pleasant for people.
