BENGALURU: Police on Monday booked a case against a software engineer and beauty influencer for allegedly assaulting a Zomato delivery executive when he had gone to deliver food to her flat in Bengaluru’s Electronic City last week.
The police action against Hitesha Chandranee, 31, followed a counter-complaint by delivery executive Kamaraj. Sources said police have booked Hitesha under Indian Penal Code sections for wrongful restraint, assault or criminal force with intent to dishonour person and criminal intimidation.

After witnessing downward trend for the last couple of months, the number of new Covid-19 cases in Karnataka crossed 900-mark with the state recorded 921 cases on Friday. With the new number, the caseload shot up to 9.59 lakh, while a lone fatality in Mysuru took the death toll to 12,387, the state health bulletin said.
Karnataka has been witnessing a rapid rise in cases since March 8, 2021 when it logged 436 cases. March 8 is a significant date as far as Karnataka is concerned as on this day in 2020, the first Covid case was detected.

Bengaluru: A 32-year-old jobless man steals television sets installed in lodges in the wee hours. The man has been identified as Vijay Ashok Kale Hiremath who claimed to be on a business trip and steals TVs. Vijay work as a cab driver in Bengaluru. According to a report, the man charged for stealing TVs from hotel rooms poses as a trader. He would rent rooms and flee with televisions hidden in the bags.
According to the police, on February 9, a complaint has been filed with Upparpet Police when the TV set was found missing in Vishnu Paradise lodge. Upparpet Police have arrested a jobless man hailing from Hyderabad for allegedly committing thefts on different occasions at hotels. The police also claimed that the accused after committing the thefts sold stolen

The Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (KIAB/ BLR Airport) on Friday launched a dedicated, 200,000 sq.ft.express cargo terminal, exclusively for export and import of international couriers.
Developed by Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) operator of BLR Airport - the built-to-suit facility will house global express courier organisations.
The terminal will have a dedicated space for Customs offices, and direct access to both landside and airside, a BIAL statement said.
