4 held for targeting bus passengers in Bengaluru Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA The Upparpet police have arrested four members of a gang for allegedly preying on passengers at bus stands, and stealing their bags and valuables. The accused – Chandra Gowda, 45, and his wife Manjula, 32, from Tumakuru, and their associates Adul Nasir, 51, and Prashanth, 50 – are habitual offenders, said a police officer. According to the police, on March 16, they stole a bag containing gold and silver jewellery worth ₹1.4 lakh from an engineer while she was boarding a bus. While investigating the case, the police rounded up known habitual offenders for questioning. “One of them gave information on Nasir and his associates. We tracked them down, and recovered gold jewellery worth ₹4.6 lakh from them,” said the police.

Representational Image  Bengaluru: A 32-year-old jobless man steals television sets installed in lodges in the wee hours. The man has been identified as Vijay Ashok Kale Hiremath who claimed to be on a business trip and steals TVs. Vijay work as a cab driver in Bengaluru. According to a report, the man charged for stealing TVs from hotel rooms poses as a trader. He would rent rooms and flee with televisions hidden in the bags.     According to the police, on February 9, a complaint has been filed with Upparpet Police when the TV set was found missing in Vishnu Paradise lodge. Upparpet Police have arrested a jobless man hailing from Hyderabad for allegedly committing thefts on different occasions at hotels. The police also claimed that the accused after committing the thefts sold stolen

This is part of the Rs 279 crore project aimed at improving air quality in the City by implementing nine different measures. While the fountains might help in absorbing the particulate matter and reduce temperatures, the solution, experts say, does not address the root cause of air pollution. Almost all the traffic intersections identified for the installation of water fountains are located in the central parts of Bengaluru.
