SC to hear petition to prevent alleged exodus of people due to Bengal violence

The Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear next week a plea seeking directions to the Centre and the West Bengal government to prevent alleged exodus of people due to state-sponsored violence and constituting of a SIT to fairly investigate and take appropriate action against culprits.
A vacation bench of Justices Vineet Saran and BR Gavai was told by senior advocate Pinky Anand that more than one lakh people have been displaced due to the poll-related violence in West Bengal. She told the bench that this matter required urgent listing as people are forced to leave their homes and stay in shelter homes and camps.

New Delhi: Unidentified people on Friday (May 13) attacked the car of BJP Bankura MP Subhas Sarkar at the district in West Bengal. The incident took place at Chatterjee Bagan near Patalkhuri Village of Bankura district.
Following the incident, an FIR was registered at Bankura Police Station against unidentified assailants and an investigation has been launched into the matter.
Reacting to the attack on his vehicle, BJP MP called it an assault on the ongoing political terror in the state and accused the ruling Trinamool Congress behind it. I can t say who carried out the attack because they couldn t be identified as their faces were covered but naturally those who are doing political terror. It s certain that people of ruling party did this, Subhas Sarkar was quoted as saying by ANI.
West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar Saturday expressed displeasure at not being updated on the law and order situation in the state with regard to post poll violence by the chief secretary and director general of police (DGP).
The Bengal police on Tuesday flagged a tweet by India Today executive editor Deep Halder about post-poll violence in the state as âfake newsâ. Halder had tweeted that BJPâs women poll agents were âgangrapedâ and âmanyâ were molested in Birbhum district, attributing the allegation to the Bengal BJP.
Following this, the editor tweeted that he had confirmed with the police superintendent that reports of gangrape were fake, and deleted his fake news tweet.

Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has claimed that around 400 BJP workers and their families from Bengal have crossed into Assam amid post-poll violence in the neighbouring state.
