In the past 48 hours, social media platforms have been packed with pictures and videos of the post-poll violence in West Bengal. More than 14 people have reportedly been killed and all the political parties in the state including the Trinamool Congress (TMC) have claimed that their cadres have been attacked.
Although the Left and Congress party members have also alleged retributive violence against their cadres by workers of the victorious TMC, the BJP is desperately trying to communalise this political violence by blaming it on Muslims and âinfiltratorsâ. In an apparent attempt to skirt the responsibility over the post-poll violence in state, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for bloody clashes. Addressing a press conference after taking oath as Bengal CM for the third consecutive term, Mamata Banerjee said reports of violence has come from regions where the BJP has won in the just-concluded Assembly elections.Â
Most of the most of the videos of violence being shared on social media were either fake or old, she told reporters at the state secretariat Nabanna.

Bharatiya Janata Party s (BJP) national president JP Nadda on Tuesday came down heavily on Mamata Banerjee-led-Trinamool Congress over widespread violence in parts of West Bengal following the party s win in the just-concluded Assembly elections. Speaking to reporters in Kolkata, Nadda said that sacrifice of BJP workers will not go in vain, adding that the ideological fight will reach a logical conclusion.
Nadda, who is on a two-day visit to West Bengal, said that he had never seen such intolerance and termed the incidents of attack on opposition leaders as a matter of serious concern.
