A Susquehanna Valley group is stepping up to help make sure no one goes hungry.A crisis meal handout was held Friday morning at the Pequea Township Police Department. It was part of an effort by CHI St. Joseph Children s Health to meet the need in the community.People were lined up more than an hour before the drive-thru distribution. Recipients did not have to register, and there was no income requirement.Each bag that was given out included a healthy, prepared meal in a microwavable, dishwasher-safe container. The bag also contained fruit and healthy snacks.“This isn t a poverty program, so you actually are seeing people that are hurting and traditionally would feel uncomfortable or would shy away from asking for help because they don t want to have to talk about their income or they feel it’s beneath them or that other people need it more,” said Phil Goropoulos, of CHI St. Joseph Children s Health.The nonprofit started handing out meals in Columbia last spring and has c

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. Multiple Lancaster County police departments sent officers to assist the Metropolitan Police Department in the Presidential Inauguration security detail.
Pequea Township Police [PTPD] Chief John Michener led the Task Force which had members from the West Lampeter Township Police, Strasburg Borough Police, East Lampeter Township Police, Quarryville Borough Police, and Manor Township Police from Lancaster County. It also included officers from outside the area.
