BHUBANESWAR: Biranchi Naik, 51, a safai karmachari at Capital Hospital, took the first shot of Covid-19 vaccine on Saturday. He said he is happy that he can be an example for others, who will follow his step. After so many months when we find a vaccine that can defeat the deadly virus that killed lakhs of people and put the whole world in lockdown, I feel lucky and privileged to be the first person get the vaccine, said Biranchi, who works as a safai karmachari in Capital Hospital.
Biranchi said, the hospital authorities told him that he is the first person to get the first shot in the vaccination programme on Friday evening. I have full faith in what doctors told me still I was feeling a bit nervous. They said everyone will take the vaccine eventually and it is absolutely safe. My wife and son also supported me and boosted my confidence to get the first shot,” he added.
Jagannath Temple doors to reopen for devotees from December 23 Post News Network
Puri: The long wait for devotees to visit Jagannath Temple here and have a glimpse of the lord has finally come to an end. The doors of the temple will be reopened for devotees December 23 onwards, but in a phased manner.
Puri District Collector Balwant Singh said Monday the servitors and their family members will be allowed to enter the temple between December 23 and 25. The doors will be opened for the general public from December 26 and ‘darshan’ will continue till December 31. The doors of the temple will remain closed January 1 and 2 next year. This is because on these two days, there is a chance of huge crowds thronging to the temple.
