The class was was by master Florist, Michal Kowalski, from Blooming Haus. Staff and residents at Barchester’s Bradshaw Manor care home were invited to gather together flowers and foliage chosen by themselves and follow Michal’s demonstration to create their own displays. Residents’ arrangements were then entered into a Facebook competition judged by Michal and Michael, the visionaries behind Blooming Haus. Bradshaw Manor beat more than 100 other entries to win the Colour category in the competition with their impressive colourful display. Their prize is £100 in Love2Shop vouchers which they plan to spend on gardening equipment to continue our floral activities.
Residents at Balclutha Court are in full bloom thanks to taking part in floristry masterclasses. Master florist Michal Kowalski, from Blooming Haus, took the senior citizens through a virtual demonstration so they could create their own displays. They used shop-bought flowers as well as materials and foliage from the surrounding gardens at the Forsyth Street establishment. Their creations were entered into a Facebook competition judged by Michal and his business partner Michael Dariane, and the winning resident scooped Love2Shop vouchers. Overseeing the activity on the day was Karen Dillion, activities co-ordinator. She said: It was wonderful that our residents were able to create their own floral displays using flowers from our own garden and the local supermarket.
