Kota Kinabalu: A 27-year-old Filipino was charged at the Magistrate’s Court on Monday with trafficking 56.48gm of syabu.
Unemployed Adzlan Jumaani Tahaya, who was brought before Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun, was accused of committing the offence at 11.30am on Jan 26 this year in a chicken coop in front of a house at Kg Lok Baru in Pulau Gaya.
However, no plea was recorded from Adzlan after the charge was read out to him.

The charge under Section 39B(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 carries a punishment with either the death penalty or life in prison and whipping with a minimum of 15 strokes.

KOTA KINABALU: Four fishermen, suspected of using fish bombs, dived off their boat and swam to shore to evade capture by a Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) patrol in the waters off Pulau Gaya here on Tuesday (Feb 2) evening.
Though they escaped, MMEA managed to seize their pump boat and recovered some 200kg of suspected bombed fish as well as various pieces of fish bombing equipment.
Sabah MMEA director First Admiral Datuk Mohd Rosli Abdullah said a patrol boat carrying out operations under Ops Sejahtera and Ops Naga Timur around the waters off Kota Kinabalu spotted the boat near Pulau Gaya, one of the islands in the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park.
STUDENTS have until today to apply for exemption from remove classes for the 2021 academic year.
Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon said as of Jan 18, the ministry has received 5,092 applications from Chinese and Tamil school pupils.
Of this, 2,829 applications have been approved, he said before joining the first EZ Learning Web session for remove class students on Jan 25.
The ministry, said Mah, created the special week-long series of educational videos specifically for remove class students.
“This special YouTube series features teachers teaching and sharing their experiences and tips to help students pass the exam that would exempt them from remove classes, ” he said.

Police arrest foreign drug pusher in Pulau Gaya 28 Jan 2021 / 12:10 H.
KOTA KINABALU, Jan 28: Police arrested a 20-year-old non-citizen believed to have been actively involved in pushing drugs on addicts in Pulau Gaya here, last Tuesday.
Kota Kinabalu Police chief ACP Habibi Manjanji said seven packets of syabu weighing 56.48gm worth RM5,648 hidden in a black plastic bag were seized from the man during the arrest.
Also seized were a Samsung Galaxy J3 Pro mobile phone and cash of RM1,174.
“The man, however, was tested negative for drugs and initial investigation found that he has no previous criminal records, but had been ‘working with’ a drug syndicate and getting paid around RM25 to RM30 per day,” he said in a statement here today.
