KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 21 Politicians and supporters campaigning for their respective parties were the least observant of Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) put in place by the Ministry of Health for last year’s Sabah snap state election, Suhakam said today.
The finding was among several criticisms the National Human Rights Commission made from its observation of the state elections that many blamed for the third wave of infections hitting the country today.

Kota Kinabalu: A 48-year-old man, charged with raping his daughter, will go trial on Feb 15-16 this year.
Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus set the date for the man who maintained his not-guilty plea.
The man is accused of committing incest against the 15-year-old girl between midnight and 1am in May 2020 at a house in Pulau Gaya, near here.

He was charged under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of between eight and 30 years and whipping, on conviction.
All the documents pertaining to the case had been served to the man.

Kota Kinabalu: Two foreign fishermen were sentenced to eight months’ jail each by the Sessions Court here, Wednesday, for having bombed fish.
Aga Abdul, 29, and Al Dasir Abduraji, 25, changed their plea to guilty to the joint charges. The duo, who hold Burung Burung cards, pleaded guilty to having 12 bombed fishes at 4am on July 17, 2020 at the Safma’s jetty here.
They had on Aug 26 last year claimed trial to the charge under Section 26 (1) (c ) of the Fisheries Act 1985, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which provides for a fine of up to RM20,000 or a jail term of up to two years or both on conviction.
