CLEMSON, S.C. – Day one of the 2021 ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships closed with the Clemson women’s distance medley relay finishing second overall in 11:13.91 to secure second-team All-ACC honors. The Tigers’ relay was comprised of Andrea Foster (1,200m), Ken’Naria Gadson (400m), Kamryn McIntosh (800m), and Laurie Barton (mile).
“We’ve very excited about the place we got, and we know that we put the best team out there that we could,” reflected Mark Elliott, Clemson’s Director of Track & Field. “Getting a silver medal in the event at ACC’s is a great accomplishment.”
Foster showcased her patented strength during the final 400 meters of the opening leg to glide into the lead and hand off the baton to Ken’Naria Gadson in a tie for first. A furious quarter-mile split of 54.61 by the freshman secured Clemson the top position heading into the third leg. The high-flying jumpers of Clemson track and field are ready to soar into the 2021 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships after putting together a season of consistency and success throughout the regular season.
Anthony Hamilton will take to the men’s high jump with lofty expectations after securing two victories in the event, along with three additional top-5 finishes, throughout the 2021 campaign. Hamilton has consistently cleared 2.10 meters (6 feet, ten and three-quarter inches) this season and will enter Thursday’s competition with sizable momentum after logging two quality weeks of training with assistant coach Chris Bostwick.

The UVA men’s and women’s track and field teams saw several personal, season and Top 5 all-time best performances Saturday in meets at Clemson and Liberty.

UVA redshirt freshman thrower Jacob Lemon (Sanibel, Fla.) set a personal best mark in the weight throw at Clemson’s Tiger Paw Invitational. He started the competition by throwing a personal best distance of 19.45 meters but bettered that on his second attempt (19.47m) and again on his final throw to finish the competition seventh at 19.73m (64’-8.75”). CLEMSON, S.C. – Laurie Barton and Trishauna Hemmings proved once again on Saturday why they are two of the nation’s best athletes, as each recorded top-5 all-time marks at Clemson during the final day of the Tiger Paw Invitational. Barton who entered the day already the No. 4 performer at Clemson in the women’s 800 meters ran 2:03.91 to set a new personal best since transferring to Clemson. Hemmings ran the 200m for the first time in her career and became the No. 5 performer on Clemson’s all-time list after crossing the line in 23.28. Hemmings’s time produced a third overall standing on Saturday and placed her within the top 10 nationally.
