PIGEON FORGE â In honor of U.S. military veterans, Pigeon Forge will host its seventh annual Veterans Homecoming Parade on Saturday, Aug. 7. World War II veteran and Pigeon Forge resident James Householder returns as parade grand marshal. Householder will be joined by fellow local veterans Tom Lavin and Don Luckett, both of whom are volunteers for the Pigeon Forge Special Events department.
Householder is one of the few remaining World War II veterans residing in Sevier County. A 1944 graduate of Sevier County High School, Householder also graduated from Maryville College where he met his wife Julia. Retired from the electrical business, Householder is a former Pigeon Forge city commissioner.
While Black is sure to draw a crowd, the festival is chock full of other things to do as well. Activities get underway at 4 p.m. with various food vendors for guests to explore in the park.
From the main stage, the annual veterans tribute is slated for 5:30 p.m. followed by a performance by the Brad Hudson Band.
Popular Fleetwood Mac tribute band Rumors performs at 6:30 p.m. just prior to Blackâs performance. The fireworks display starts at approximately 9:45 p.m. as will Knoxville radio station WIVKâs (107.7 FM) simulcast of the event.

SEVIERVILLE â Many of the areaâs approximately 12 million annual tourists are likely unaware of the information gathered on them in two municipalities during their visit.
Sevier County is making plans to join the marketing arms of Gatlinburg and Sevierville in data collection for its tourism department.
County officials accepted bids until 10 a.m. today for real-time vacation rental data collection.
Sevier County Assistant Mayor Perrin Anderson said a budget has not yet been established for the project.
âNo, that is why we are putting out the bid,â he said.
Anderson explained the purpose of utilizing a service for collecting the data.
