Buderim Private Hospital has confirmed the closure of its breast clinic months after it said the service was being redesigned to build on its “long commitment” to quality healthcare.
The UnitingCare-owned hospital confirmed in a statement published on its website that the closure was due to being unable to recruit a uniquely qualified specialist breast clinician.
It said patients were being contacted.
The clinic has been closed for several months but in February Buderim Private said in a statement to the Daily that it was due to a redesign of the “gold standard” service. In February Uniting

The cyber-attack occurred on Anzac Day, and impacted the Wesley and St Andrews War Memorial hospitals in Brisbane, Buderim Private Hospital on the Sunshine Coast and St Stephen s Hospital in Hervey Bay. The attack forced staff to switch to paper-based operations.

Subscriber only Health care workers have been unable to access patient records after a cyber attack on UnitingCare Queensland threw services on the Coast into shambles. The cyber security attack on April 25 affected aged care homes and hospitals including the Buderim Private Hospital and Blue Care services. UnitingCare Queensland which looks after the Buderim hospital said in a statement as a result of the cyber attack some of the organisation s digital and technology systems had been inaccessible. Russia-based REvil, which previously tried to hack Apple and extort former US president Donald Trump and singers Madonna and Lady Gaga, has claimed to have orchestrated the attack.

Ransomware infection reportedly impacts hospitals and aged care facilities.
UnitingCare Queensland, a provider of hospital and aged care services, said some of its digital and technology systems were rendered “inaccessible” by a cyber attack on Sunday.
9News in Queensland reported the attack as a ransomware infection that all hospitals and aged care homes run by the organisation with IT systems.
Hospitals run by UnitingCare Queensland include The Wesley Hospital and St Andrews War Memorial Hospital, both in Brisbane, St Stephen s Hospital in Hervey Bay, and Buderim Private Hospital on the Sunshine Coast.
