Lawmakers in Washington finally seem to be serious about connecting every American to high-speed broadband. After years of getting it wrong with false starts and broken promises, it’s vital they get this one right.
There are two paths Congress can take: a relatively simple, direct approach that builds on the strengths of our current broadband ecosystem and closes the digital divide in rural and urban areas with targeted, laser focused subsidies.
Then there is the speculative, over-regulatory approach pushed by some beltway zealots and special interests – unnecessarily overcomplicating this challenge with far-left shibboleths that have failed miserably in the past.

Safety has been a big concern on Main Street, especially in front of the post office and other areas.
During the selectmen s May 3 meeting, town manager Phil Warren talked about almost getting hit while crossing the street in front of the post office. It amazes me how many people regardless of age, sex, demographics, vehicle, whatever ignore certain 6-foot people that are pretty wide in a crosswalk, Warren said.

Internet data usage is skyrocketing these days, to no surprise.
In 2020, the average amount of internet data usage for an individual household was 483GB per month. By the end of this year, the average broadband consumption per household per month could hit 600-650GB, according to Mark Trudeau, CEO of OpenVault, a broadband data and analytics solutions company. It makes sense that broadband consumption increased drastically during the pandemic since millions of people were working or attending school from home.
