NEW BEDFORD An early morning fire that tore through two buildings in New Bedford Monday caused two deaths and displaced approximately 40 people, city officials said.
The flames began in one mixed-use building on Acushnet Avenue after midnight and spread to a second building before firefighters could get them under control.
