Newtown Business Association to host Father’s Day Car Cruise June 20

The Newtown Business Association will host the annual Antique & Classic Car Cruise event on June 20, a caravan of cars and trucks model years up through 1996 that will parade through Newtown Borough and Newtown Township. Proceeds benefit the Wrightstown Food Cupboard of Penns Park United Methodist Church.
The event will allow people to watch the parade of “cool cars” from the comfort and safety of front lawns. In previous years, NBA held the Classic & Antique Car Show on State Street in Newtown Borough. The route will be publicized and available on the NBA website. The event will also be broadcast live on the NBA Facebook page.

NEWTOWN, PA The Newtown Business Association is bringing an antique and classic car show to the area on Saturday, June 20.
In previous non-pandemic years, the car show was typically held on State Street in the borough. This year, vehicles will assemble at a staging area, where a panel of judges will award winners of Best in Class in five categories: Pre-1959, 1960-1969, 1970-1979, 1980-1996, foreign cars up through 1996, and Special Interest through 1996.

NEWTOWN BOROUGH BC Discoveries Dance and Theater Arts Co. marked its grand opening on Feb. 28, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the relocation of the company s facilities from Brookside Barn to the renovated The Stocking Works building at 451 S. State St.
Guests included members of the Turning Out Performing Company, alumni, members of the Newtown Business Association and elected officials.
BCDTA offers dance instruction for students ages 2-18 in a noncompetitive environment. The new location’s increased space provides three studios to hold instructional classes in ballet, tap, combo classes, jazz, acting and voice, hip hop and lyrical. More programs have been added that include adult fitness classes.
All grants focus on life-sustaining and essential human services.
United Way of Bucks County has awarded 11 new grants totaling almost $44,000, through their most recent grant cycle on Dec. 7. This represents the most grants awarded during a single grant period, officials said.
Recent grant recipients include: Lifespan Childcare Center, TLC Child Care Center, NAMI Bucks County, Lenape Valley Foundation, Catholic Social Services, Livengrin Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bucks County, YMCA of Bucks County, Family Service Association of Bucks County, One House at a Time, and Ivins Outreach Center.
Funds awarded this grant cycle will support the purchase of sanitizing equipment, cleaning supplies, personal protective equipment, additional support staffing, data for telehealth appointments for clients, bed frames, mattresses, and bedding for children in Bucks County, and meals and groceries for people who are unable to shop safely on their own.
