In an update of a story we had for you yesterday, no injuries were reported following the explosion at NAC Carbon on Elk Run Ave in Punxsutawney Wednesday night.
According to the Punxsy Spirit, all three Punxsutawney fire companies were dispatched to the scene along with McCalmont Township, Big Run and seven other area fire companies.
Elk Run Fire Chief Doug McAfoos said that he’ll be meeting with management and will have a better idea of what caused the explosion as well as a damage estimate.
McAfoos said the damage was extensive, with the walls bowing out and cracks in the cement blocks. Windows, doors and garage doors were blown out as well.

Elk Run, Central, and Lindsey Fire Companies along with 11 other responded to a reported structure fire and possible explosion at a location on Elk Run Ave in Punxsutawney Wednesday night.
According to Jefferson County Fire Wire, crews responded to NAC Carbon Products on Elk Run Ave just before 10:30 p.m.
Details are limited – No word yet about injuries or cause. Update
