A Winston-Salem police officer is recovering after a crash Sunday evening.It happened around 10:45 p.m. near the intersection of Silas Creek Parkway and Peters Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem.Authorities say the officer, identified as Cpl. James Pleasant, 37, suffered minor injuries.One person, who left the scene of the crash, was arrested after later being located by police. That person has been identified as Javier Gutierrez-Peralta, 37, of Lexington. According to police, Cpl. Pleasant was traveling north on Peters Creek Parkway, making a left turn while having the green light. Gutierrez-Peralta was traveling south on Peters Creek Parkway and entered the intersection on a steady red light, colliding with the passenger side of Corporal Pleasant’s cruiser. Gutierrez-Peralta then fled the scene toward Interstate 40.
