Ore Dock Brewing Company Facebook Page
There s another opportunity to come together for music shopping, conversation, live music and more at the next Vinyl Record Sale at the Ore Dock Brewing Company.
In the second edition of the sale at the Ore Dock since pandemic conditions have lessened enough to allow for community gathering events, the community space will once again be filled with boxes of vinyl records, CDs, cassette tapes and more for music and media lovers. Live music will also be featured at the other end of the upstairs community space during the sale.
As the event is sponsored through the NMU Vinyl Record Club, we spoke with Jon Teichman, adviser to the group (and one of two individuals heavily involved in planning and executing the events) about what it takes to put the event together.

Books aren’t the only thing for rent at your local library.
The Peter White Public Library in Marquette has its very own seed library, where patrons can check out various plant seeds for free and return seeds harvested from their successful plants.
Queen City Seed Library co-founder and volunteer Mike Riesterer explains the impact of the seed collection, saying, “It’s not about making money or anything like that. It’s about having control of your food source. That starts with you being able to grow your own food.”
If you need gardening advice, or simply want to try out a free and sustainable way to garden, visit the Queen City Seed Library near the circulation desk at Peter White Public Library.

Last year, during the quarantine, I read that Dolly Parton donated $1 million for the development of a COVID-19 vaccine. It was just one more reason to love this extraordinary woman.
Epic songwriter, beloved singer and performer, philanthropist, and a voice for poor, working-class women everywhere, Dolly Parton is adored by legions of diverse fans. She is beloved for her generosity as well as her talent. Her literacy program, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, is currently providing books to almost 850,000 children. When her childhood home of Sevier County was hit hard by wildfires, the Dollywood Foundation donated $1,000 per month to families who had lost their homes, as well as college scholarships to students affected by the fires. And these are just a few examples of her generosity!
