Thruxton thriller set to kickstart new BTCC campaign

The new British Touring Car Championship season kicks off this weekend at Thruxton, with a full grid of 29 cars ready to do battle on the quickest circuit on the calendar.
Although no fans will be in attendance – hopefully the final time that will be the case – there is set to be plenty of action for those watching live on ITV4 to enjoy after a busy winter that saw a raft of chances across the grid.
That is most notably true amongst the manufacturer-backed teams after the departure of Honda from the series, leaving Team Dynamics to run as an Independent outfit for the first time in more than a decade.

Motorbase Performance has revealed the livery for the two Ford Focus STs that will be driven by Sam Osborne and Andy Neate during the 2021 BTCC season.
The pair will join forces under the Racing with Wera & Photon Group banner on one side of the Motorbase garage, with Jake Hill and Ollie Jackson on the other racing under the MB Motorsport name.
The reveal of the black livery on the Motorbase-entered cars comes ahead of the official season launch at Silverstone tomorrow (Thursday).
“The off-season has brought a huge number of changes for Motorbase Performance,” team owner Pete Osborne said. “The team has worked incredibly hard over the winter but now we cannot wait for the real work to begin! We are thrilled to be representing both Wera Tools and the Photon Group on track this season and everyone is excited to start the Racing with Wera & Photon Group chapter.”
Motorbase acquired by Shaun Hollamby, Pete Osborne

Motorbase Performance will race under new ownership in the 2021 British Touring Car Championship after being acquired by AmD Tuning boss Shaun Hollamby and Pete Osborne, father of current racer Sam.
The pair will take over the Ford outfit from long-time team principal David Bartrum, who has taken the decision to step aside from the team he founded back in 2004. Hollamby will take on the role of team principal, with Osborne as managing director.
Under Bartrum’s stewardship, Motorbase enjoyed years of success in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, British GT and BTCC, including winning five times last season thanks to Rory Butcher and Sam Osborne.
