Second Toyota fantastic for Speedworks - TouringCarTimes

3 months ago Speedworks team boss Christian Dick insists that the addition of a second car for the 2021 BTCC season is “fantastic news” as the Toyota squad gears up for a championship challenge during the upcoming campaign. Speedworks will field a second car after acquiring a TBL from AmD Tuning after it merged with the Motorbase Performance team, and will have a new look driver line-up after the departure of Tom Ingram. Although the team ran Matt Simpson’s Honda in 2016, this season will mark the first time that the team has fielded its own multi-car entry since 2013, with two Corollas entered under the Toyota Gazoo Racing UK banner.

Motorbase acquired by Shaun Hollamby, Pete Osborne

Motorbase acquired by Shaun Hollamby, Pete Osborne 3 months ago Motorbase Performance will race under new ownership in the 2021 British Touring Car Championship after being acquired by AmD Tuning boss Shaun Hollamby and Pete Osborne, father of current racer Sam. The pair will take over the Ford outfit from long-time team principal David Bartrum, who has taken the decision to step aside from the team he founded back in 2004. Hollamby will take on the role of team principal, with Osborne as managing director. Under Bartrum’s stewardship, Motorbase enjoyed years of success in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, British GT and BTCC, including winning five times last season thanks to Rory Butcher and Sam Osborne.

Expanded Speedworks programme headlines 2021 TBL list

Expanded Speedworks programme headlines 2021 TBL list 3 months ago BTCC organisers TOCA have revealed that all 29 TOCA BTCC Licences (TBLs) for 2021 have been allocated. What should have been a 30 car field last year ultimately dropped down to 26 cars as a full season entry after Simpson Racing ended its programme, and both WSR and Power Maxed Racing were forced to amend plans as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. With TOCA electing to retain the Simpson Racing licence, the remaining TBLs will all be used for the upcoming campaign in a 29 car entry that features a number of changes compared to 2020. The headline news is that Speedworks will expand to a two-car programme having acquired a second TBL from AmD Tuning after it merged with Motorbase, with AmD’s second 2020 licence being added to the three already held by Motorbase for a new four-car programme.
