Pentecost: Bishops of Clogher give joint message

Bishop Ian Ellis, the Church of Ireland Bishop of Clogher and Bishop Larry Duffy, Roman Catholic Bishop of Clogher, have come together to give a joint message to mark the feast of Pentecost, highlighting the importance of speaking together about the goodness of God across barriers . Pentecost Sunday marks the end of the 50-day season of Easter and the descent of the Holy Spirit in the upper room and the beginning of apostolic preaching, thus marking a defining moment in the origin of the Christian Church. It is celebrated on Sunday, May 23. In their joint message, the bishops opened by quoting a verse from the book of Acts in the Bible: All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability - Acts 2:4.

St Kevin s College: New block of classrooms opened

The building was erected quickly following the first sod being cut for the new building last October. Celebrations got off to a start outside the new building as Fr. John Chester blessed the building with Holy Water. Head Boy Niall McCaffrey, and Head Girl Aoife Wray, were tasked with cutting the ribbon for the new school. Guests were invited to walk around the new school building where they marvelled at the seven new classrooms and the state-of-the-art Sixth Form centre – furnished with a kitchenette and a suite of laptops. The Chair of the Board of Governors, Councillor Thomas O’Reilly, welcomed guests and said: “It is a momentous occasion to get to this point. There have been so many people that have contributed to making sure that this became a reality, in a relatively short time, and I want to thank the whole team.”

Fermanagh Christian leaders send Easter greetings to congregations

AT THIS time of year, Christians turn to the deep and profound message that Easter brings. Although 2021 s Easter has once again been affected by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and related restrictions, Christian leaders were happy to reach out through The Impartial Reporter to their respective flocks, sharing their thoughts on the hope and renewal that Easter brings, even in these difficult days across Fermanagh, and the world. The following Easter messages are from Bishop Larry Duffy, the Bishop of Clogher; and Archdeacon Brian Harper, the Archbishop’s Commissary for Clogher Diocese, and rector of Magheracross Parish, Ballinamallard, respectively. EASTER is a time of new beginnings. Easter points us to not merely a time of hope, but to hope itself.
