FAIRMONT â The possible resignation of city councilman Blair Montgomery leaves Fairmontâs City Council with the responsibility to replace him within 30 days.
âBy charter, city council has to place someone in his seat within 30 days of the date of his resignation,â said Mayor Tom Mainella. âBut his resignation is not official yet. Itâs expected, but itâs not official.â
Prior to being elected to city council in November 2020, Montgomery served on the Marion County Board of Education, for one term. According to School Board President Mary Jo Thomas, who served on the board of education with Montgomery, who has had a recent recurrence of health issues.

FAIRMONT â Your public library is open.
Thatâs what the sign reads that boasts that the Marion County Public Library is open to the public and has all their resources readily available. Larissa Cason, director of the Marion County Public Library System, said June 1 last year, the library started providing curbside pickup amid the pandemic and June 29 the doors reopened to the public. However, many residents still believe the library is closed.
