Belize Heads to Costa Rica for 2021 Beach Soccer Tournament
The Belize Men’s National Selection will be participating in a regional beach soccer competition this weekend and is heading to Costa Rica on Friday ahead of its first match with Panama. It’s not a sport that has particularly taken off in the country, but F.F.B. is doing everything it can to bring attention to beach soccer. The twelve man team has been training rigorously and is expected to perform well in the upcoming games. News Five’s Isani Cayetano reports.

Beach soccer may not be as popular in Belize as it is in other countries, but it has not stopped the Football Federation of Belize from fielding a team to participate in the 2021 CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship. This afternoon, FFB introduced a roster that will be competing against other regional teams in Costa Rica this weekend.

Belize National Team Prepares for the CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship
The Belize National Beach Soccer Team has begun preparing for the 2021 CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championships to be held in Costa Rica between May seventeenth and twenty-third. The Belize team is going up against two top ranking teams in the region, but they are not fazed and are readying themselves for the competition. As News Five’s Duane Moody found out, the training started from as early as February with the athletes transitioning from a grass pitch to sand.

For the past few weeks, the national beach soccer has been in camp at the F.F.B. headquarters in Belmopan, training as a team in preparation for the CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championships, which is a qualifier for the 2021 World Cup.

Even Football training is going online. The Football Federation of Belize
announced today that it is investing eighteen thousand U.S. dollars in developing its youth players. The money is to the enrolment of a hundred and eighty players from the u-fifteen, u-seventeen and u-nineteen players to the Evo Soccer programme. It is a year-long online programme that players access through an app. Duane Moody was in virtual attendance of the program’s launch today.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, most sporting activities have been put on pause as they are considered potential superspreaders of the deadly virus. The Football Federation of Belize is trying to keep the various national teams engaged in a safe environment so some one hundred and fifty youth football athletes have been selected to participate in an online training programme. Evo Soccer is a fifty-two week evasion programme that focuses on individual attacking skills.
