Unexpected monsoon shower causes agony to citizens with power cuts, inundated roads July 13, 2021 An unexpected spell of monsoon rain on early Monday morning in Karachi surprised both the citizens as well as weather pundits as most of the city areas received light to moderate showers, resulting in inundation of low-lying areas, accumulation of water on major roads and power cuts in many areas of the city. The rain started around 7am in most of the areas on Monday morning. Around three to four millimetres (mm) of rain was recorded in the first spell except for Gulshan-e-Hadeed where 17 mm was recorded. The intermittent rain continued till noon, during which different areas received 20 to 35mm of rainfall, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) officials said.

Shops sealed over violations of SOPs in District South Karachi April 11, 2021 The District Southâs administration took action over violations of Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) in various areas of the district on Friday and Saturday. On the directives of Deputy Commissioner Irshad Sodhar, Assistant Commissioner Civil Lines Waleed Baig sealed shops near Bilawal Chowrangi late on Friday night. According to details shared by the deputy commissionerâs office, Liberty Book Store in the area was sealed for violations of timings set up by the Sindh government. Assistant Commissioner Saddar Town Shareena Junejo sealed the Saddar Electronics Market and the Star Mobile Mall on Friday over violations of business timings. Baig also sealed six salons in Defence Housing Authorityâs Khadda Market for violating SOPs.

Magnetic bomb defused near Karachi s Bilawal Chowrangi By Tuesday Dec 15, 2020 KARACHI: A magnetic bomb, stuck to a vehicle, was defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) near the Bilawal Chowrangi area in Karachi on Tuesday. The BDS team was called in after the Sindh Police was informed about unknown persons planting a bomb on a vehicle near the Bilawal House. SSP Zubair Nazir said a 200-metre area was cordoned off and people evacuated as the BDS inspected the explosive-ridden vehicle. Sindh Police said it rescued two foreigners from inside the vehicle and moved them to an undisclosed location. Speaking to the media, the manager of a famous restaurant in the vicinity said the car belongs to the owner. “As soon as he stopped the vehicle, suspects came out of nowhere, planted the explosive devise, and fled the scene.”
