The deployment comes amid the release of a review by the Pentagon’s Operational Test and Evaluation Office this week which found that the advanced US fighter jet still has some 871 hardware and software deficiencies, including 10 Category 1 problems that could jeopardise pilot or aircraft safety or degrade mission effectiveness.
Ten F-35A Lightning II jets and more than 150 airmen from the Vermont Air National Guard have been deployed to the Tyndall Air Force Base in northwestern Florida for weapons reliability testing.
