CORNWALL, Ontario – The Canadian Red Cross is providing support to 530 evacuees who are currently staying at the Nav Centre in Cornwall.
The evacuees are from the community of Deer Lake, ON, which, along with other northern Ontario communities, is currently experiencing wildfires in their area.
“The NAV CENTRE is ready to support the individuals and families in Northern Ontario facing these wildfires and has in place appropriate health and safety protocols and is coordinating resources through Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) and the Regional Public Health Unit,” reads a statement from Brian Boudreau, Manager for Media Relations at Nav Canada. “The NAV CENTRE has a strong record of assisting communities in emergency situations and has made the necessary preparations to provide s

It’s not like the League had a real season to begin with.
Only six OJHL clubs have played in 58 exhibition games this season. Regional Public Health Unit regulations made it next to impossible to get any real games going around the province.
In August 2020, the OJHL developed a comprehensive “Return to the Rink” procedural plan with strict protocols which were presented and approved by the OHF for Junior hockey to be used in each of the leagues under the OHA.
These protocols have been followed for all of the exhibition play within the association that have taken place this season with the safety of all those who were able to participate taken very seriously.

2021 Minor Lacrosse Tournaments Eliminated
The Ontario Lacrosse Association’s Invitational Tournament Committee members announced that traditional minor box lacrosse tournaments will not take place this season.
The assumption is the announcement will mean the traditional Owen Sound NorthStars Father’s Day Weekend Classic will not be conducted in 2021.
The decision was based on the current COVID-19 scenario in Ontario, along with public health limitations and the OLA’s Return to Activity / Return to Play Guidelines
The O.L.A. is hopeful for spring, summer and fall play, and the tournament committee is working to prepare options that fit within the Return to Activity & Return to Play Guidelines,
