A community walk honouring the Indigenous lives lost in Canada’s residential school system will take place along the Avon River in Stratford on Thursday evening.
Organizers said the event, hosted by the Multicultural Association of Perth-Huron, is being held in a spirit of “reflection, healing and reconciliation” while recognizing the outstanding calls to action outlined by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada six years ago.

James Street townhouse development approved
A small, single-storey townhouse development proposed for 347 James St. South in St. Marys received a green light from council this week.

The three-unit project pitched by BDS Construction near the Pyramid Recreation Centre required zoning bylaw amendments unanimously approved by council Tuesday following a public meeting that included the property owner’s planning consultant, Caroline Baker.
One neighbour submitted a request for a privacy fence that Baker said the builder will accommodate. No other public comments about the project were submitted.
Changes in place throughout the region as part of Ontario lockdown

There are several changes to be aware of now that Ontario is in another lockdown because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The four-week lockdown began on Saturday and in St.Marys, the Municipal Operations Centre and Town Hall remain closed for drop-ins while pre-arranged appointments and drop-box services are still available.
The ice pad at the Pyramid Recreation Centre is closed for the duration of the lockdown and the pool at the Aquatics Centre is also closed.
