Armed police were called to Mangotsfield after reports of a group with a large knife.
Officers were called to St James Place a short shopping street home to a Tesco Express and a few other businesses at about 4.20pm on Wednesday (April 28).
An Avon and Somerset police spokeswoman said the reports came from witnesses who saw three teenage boys armed with a large knife.

Soundwell Road, in Staple Hill, has been partially blocked after the collision this afternoon (April 28).
Emergency services are at the scene and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
Traffic monitoring site Inrix says: A4017 Soundwell Road partially blocked, queueing traffic due to accident at Woodland Way. In the roadworks area. Delays not helped by temporary lights.
